These are National Weather Service storm reports logged by the Storm Prediction Center. Times are Central.

- April 27, 2026 (about 5:50 AM): downed wires and power outages near Hayes Drive, while hail up to 1.75 inches fell in nearby Olathe and southwest of Shawnee.
- April 17, 2026 (about 5:05 to 5:20 PM): downed limbs and wires near 77th Street, 89th Terrace and Craig Street.

- May 19, 2025 (about 3:55 PM): quarter-size hail north-northeast and west of Overland Park, with golf ball-size (1.75-inch) hail reported in Lenexa minutes earlier.
- May 19, 2024: a late-night squall line pushed a 70 mph straight-line wind path from north Olathe across Johnson County Community College to just southeast of Oak Park Mall. Nearby, the National Weather Service confirmed a brief EF-1 tornado through the west and northwest sides of Prairie Village.
- March 13, 2024: the same evening storm that dropped 3.5-inch hail in Shawnee also produced quarter-size hail on Johnson Drive east of I-435, just northwest of Overland Park.
Wind like that tends to show up as lifted or creased shingles and torn ridge caps, not always as an obvious leak. If you've noticed shingle pieces in the yard or granules collecting at the downspouts, book an inspection.

HOA neighborhoods
A lot of Overland Park homes are in HOAs that approve shingle colors or materials. Tell us at the inspection. We'll give you the product and color details your HOA needs, wait for their approval, and build the order around it.

- A roof, gutter, flashing and ventilation check, with photos
- A written scope with Good / Better / Best options (5, 7 or 10-year craftsmanship warranty by tier) and Malarkey Class IV impact-resistant options
- An honest claim-vs-retail answer if there's storm damage (Kansas City claim vs retail)

Replacing the roof on a larger Overland Park home
South Overland Park has plenty of big two-stories with steep pitches, lots of valleys and HOA color rules. If you're replacing rather than patching, ask about premium architectural and designer shingle options, and we'll price them side by side in your scope. Financing for qualified homeowners: $0 down, 1 year no payments, no interest, subject to credit approval. See our workmanship guarantee and our Leawood replacement page for more on HOA approvals and complex rooflines.
Repair or replace your Overland Park roof
If the damage is in one spot, such as flashing, a pipe boot, a few missing shingles or a lifted ridge cap, a repair is often enough. See roof repair in Kansas City for how a repair visit works.
If hail or wind damage is spread across the roof, or the roof is simply worn out, a replacement is usually the better spend. See roof replacement in Kansas City for our Good / Better / Best options with 5, 7 or 10-year craftsmanship warranties.
