Papillion's 2024 storms, by the numbers

  • April 26, 2024: the National Weather Service logged a measured 2-inch hailstone in Papillion at 4:45 PM. Residents also reported 1.75-inch hail 2 miles west of town and 1.5-inch hail just southwest.
  • July 31, 2024: a mesonet station 2 miles southwest of Papillion measured an 80 mph gust at 5:43 PM. That same storm caused OPPD's largest outage on record.

Two-inch hail can bruise shingles and dent vents and gutters without causing a leak right away. An 80 mph gust can break the seal strip on shingles, so they lift in the next storm. If nobody has been on your roof since 2024, a free inspection is the easiest way to know.

What happens at a Papillion inspection

  1. We walk the roof and photograph what we find: hail hits, lifted or creased shingles, damaged flashing and vents.
  2. We check the gutters and attic ventilation.
  3. You get a written scope with Good / Better / Best options. If there's real storm damage, we'll give you an honest read on whether a claim makes sense after your deductible (claim vs retail).
  4. We pull the permit and schedule inspections with the City of Papillion or Sarpy County, depending on where you live.

Papillion roofing questions

Are impact-resistant shingles worth it here?
In a town that measured 2-inch hail in 2024, they're worth pricing. Our Better and Best packages include Malarkey Class IV impact-resistant options. Ask your insurer whether they offer a Class IV discount.
I'm outside city limits. Do you still come out?
Yes. We work in unincorporated Sarpy County too, and we'll pull the county permit.
How long does a replacement take?
It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. You'll get a timeline in your written scope before anything starts.
